Serially Concatenated Block Channel Coding with STBC in OFDM Systems

Block channel coding of Bose-Chadhuri- Hocquenghem (BCH) concatenated to space-time block coding (STBC) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system is presented. The proposed system will deliver high-rate binary data through Rayleigh fading channel. Performance of the system was investigated at several rate of transmission obtained by using 2, 3, and 4 transmit antennas with appropriate STBC and quadrature phase shift keying modulation. BCH code of rate ¾ is concatenated to provide the coding gain in the system. The OFDM is incorporated for maintaining satisfactory performance in both time and frequency selective fading channel. The improved performance is demonstrated via simulations.
